CSIC and MPG present E-TANDEM at the DGMK Conference in Essen

On 28–29 October 2025, the DGMK Conference took place in Essen, jointly organised by the DGMK Divisions Petrochemistry and Conversion of Carbon Carriers, together with the Division of Industrial Chemistry of the Società Chimica Italiana (SCI) and the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Energiewissenschaften (ÖGEW).

The central themes focused on the role of hydrogen and synthetic energy carriers in the decarbonisation of the EU energy landscape. The conference featured presentations from academia, rapidly growing European climate-tech start-ups, and major energy companies. The latest advances in renewable bio/e-syngas generation, conditioning, and conversion were reviewed and discussed, with a strong emphasis on techno-economics and large-scale implementation. A dedicated session on oxo-catalysis (hydroformylation) explored its role in producing “electric”, carbon-neutral fuels and molecules.

These topics were closely aligned with E-TANDEM’s objectives, and the project was well represented at the event. Andreas Vorholt (MPG) served on the organising committee, while Hannah Stieber (MPG) delivered an oral presentation and was responsible for one of the posters. E-TANDEM’s coordinator, Gonzalo Prieto (CSIC), gave a keynote lecture. Stephan Popp (MPG) and Daniel de Baker (CSIC) also contributed posters. OWI participated as one of the partner organisations in attendance.

Thank you to all who made this a successful conference!
