On 15–16 April, the E-TANDEM project held its final General Assembly and concluding event at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany.
The final event on 16 April brought together consortium partners and external stakeholders from academia and industry for an engaging and interactive discussion on the future potential of the e-fuel developed within the project. Key topics included techno-economic analysis and life-cycle assessment, highlighting both the feasibility and sustainability of the E-TANDEM approach.
The project coordinator, Gonzalo Prieto from CSIC, presented an overview of the project, including its main results and achievements.
This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by the coordinator, featuring:
- Walter Leitner (Managing Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion)
- Andreas Vorholt (Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion)
- Roman Verhaelen (Policy Officer, eFuel Alliance)
- Beat von Rotz (Team Leader, Applied Research & Measurements at WinGD)
- Vincent Lawlor (Project Manager, AVL)
Together, they shared valuable perspectives from research, policy, and industry on the role of e-fuels in the energy transition.
The event concluded with a guided tour of the institute’s facilities, including a visit to the E-TANDEM mini-plant — a key highlight demonstrating the project’s technological advancements.
We would like to sincerely thank all project partners and stakeholders for their dedication and collaboration over the past 3.5 years. Together, you have brought us one step closer to enabling sustainable and economically viable e-fuel production.
